Creating Document Files
The following options are available for you to create document files in yuuvis® RAD client:

Create document files using the Create object icon on the yuuvis® RAD bar.

Drag and drop to create document files

Create document files using the Windows clipboard (copy and paste)
If you want to file a document file in a folder, you first need to open the folder view of the filing location before you start creating the document file.
Your rights in the system and the configuration of the object types determine whether or not you can select document files and which ones are available for selection.

Click the Create object icon on the yuuvis® RAD bar.
The Create object menu containing all object types you can create appears.

Select or execute one of the file options.
The metadata area opens.

Enter the corresponding metadata in the metadata area.
Mandatory fields are indicated by an asterisk.
Metadata fields that are prepopulated by the object type definition are indicated by a df. Fields that are marked with an ex extract the metadata from the metadata of the document file (see Prepopulated Metadata Fields). The Metadata section describes your options for maintaining metadata in yuuvis® RAD (see Editing Metadata).

Exit the creation process by clicking File or File and open.
Upload file: Uploads a file from your Windows file system and adds it to your object as a document file. A duplicate check is carried out (see Duplicate Check). |

Select template: Offers a selection of templates to use in creating a document file. The administrator can disable the template function. If the template function is disabled, then the Select template option will not be offered. |

Without file: Creates your object without a document file. You can still add a document file later on via drag and drop or copy and paste (see Adding a Document File Later). |
The document file is filed in the yuuvis® RAD filing system.

Drag a file from your Windows file system and drop it onto the yuuvis® RAD client workspace.
Dragging and dropping files from zip archives is not supported.
The Upload file(s) filing menu appears.

Drop the file onto the filing menu.
You will see several different filing destinations, depending on the context:

File in <name of tree item>
Files the file with indexing in the folder that is currently open. This option is only offered when the folder view is open (see The Folder View).

Add document file
Files the file in the object that is currently open. This option is only offered when the object view is open if the open object does not yet have a document file (see Adding a Document File Later).

Add as new version
Files the file in the object that is currently open. This option is only offered when the object view is open if the open object already has a document file (see Replace document file).

File in the general filing location
Files the file in the main folder (root) of the yuuvis® RAD filing system. The document file can be moved to a different filing location later (see Moving Document Files).

Favorites
Offers the folders that were added by the user for filing. This option is only offered if folders have been indicated as favorites (see Adding Objects to Favorites).

Recently opened folders
Offers the folders last opened by the user for filing.

Click the button for the desired filing location.
If you click either Add document file or Replace document file, then a new version with the new document file is created from the selected object. This completes the filing process.
If you click either General filing location or Add to the context, the in-tray appears. A duplicate check is carried out (see Duplicate Check).

Select the desired object type in the list of permitted object types in the in-tray.
If you have assigned an object type to one or more objects in the clipboard, you can correct this assignment as long as the objects have not been permanently stored. To do this, click the Reset object type button in the header of the filing area. The list of permitted object types is then available again for object type reassignment.
The metadata area opens.

Copy the document you want to create in the yuuvis® RAD filing system to the Windows clipboard using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C.
Alternatively, you can copy a screenshot to the Windows clipboard using the Print keyboard shortcut.

Go to yuuvis® RAD client and paste the document copied to the Windows clipboard using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V.
The Upload file(s) filing menu appears.
