enaio® webclient as a desktop application
enaio® webclient as a desktop application (enaio® webclient-app) is a modified variant of enaio® webclient with access functions to applications in the local Windows operating system. If, for example, you also want to use the data transfer functions or the Office or Outlook integration feature of enaio® in enaio® webclient, then you have to use the desktop application of enaio® webclient.
There are the following minor differences in operation between enaio® webclient and enaio® webclient as a desktop application due to technological limitations and other options in the local Windows operating system:
Once you have successfully logged in to the desktop application of enaio® webclient, your login data will automatically be saved as a profile on the device. You can use the saved profiles in the Profile field the next time you log in on the same device. If you select a profile, then you only have to enter your password manually into the login form (see Logging In Using enaio® webclient as a desktop application).
In contrast to enaio® webclient and enaio® mobile, enaio® webclient as a desktop application supports special login procedures such as NTLM and OpenResty (see Logging In Using enaio® webclient as a desktop application).
enaio® webclient as a desktop application supports the use of dashlets. This does not apply to mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, however.
To print a document in desktop application of enaio® webclient, you do not have to export it first as you would need to do in the browser application. You can print documents directly from a hit list or from a filing location. Use Print document command in the context menu of the selected document (see Printing Documents).
Documents are checked in and out in the desktop application somewhat differently than you would in the browser application of enaio® webclient. As a result, you can, for example, close the desktop application when all open documents are checked in again (see Checking a Document In and Out).
enaio® webclient as a desktop application makes it possible to use the enaio® Office Add-In NG . This allows you to switch between enaio® and Microsoft Office programs such as Word or Excel, easily exchange documents, and share and edit data. The enaio® Office Add-In NG manages the check-in and check-out process, correctly files and indexes documents, and exchanges data.
enaio® webclient as a desktop application makes it possible to use the enaio® Outlook Add-In NG. This allows you to easily exchange e-mails and other Outlook items such as appointments and tasks between enaio® and Microsoft Outlook.
enaio® webclient as a desktop application makes it possible to use the enaio® GroupWise Add-On NG . This allows you to easily exchange e-mails and other GroupWise items such as appointments and tasks between enaio® and GroupWise. The enaio® GroupWise Add-On NG manages the check-in and check-out process as well as correctly files and indexes documents.
enaio® webclient as a desktop application supports the storage of documents that were created using various local applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), independent of enaio®, and that were transferred to enaio® webclient for future storage in the enaio® filing system. These documents are managed in the external tray and can therefore be stored and indexed at any time (see External Tray).
Unlike enaio® webclient, enaio® webclient as a desktop application must be installed. You can download the latest installation file for the desktop application via enaio® webclient in your browser. Alternatively, the installation file can also be provided as an MSI package by your administrator (see Installing enaio® webclient as a desktop application).
enaio® webclient as a desktop application supports the opening of internal references (*.os reference files). You can use internal references to access documents, index data, and filing locations, or to execute or accept saved searches (see Internal References (*.os Reference Files)).
The desktop application of enaio® webclient supports editing documents with the enaio® office-365-dashlet. This does not apply to mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, however.
enaio® webclient as a desktop application supports working in offline mode. To do this, the objects (folders, registers, documents) that you want to be available offline must first be tagged as favorites and transferred to the local device using the Synchronizing function (see enaio® webclient in Offline Mode). The Offline tab is available in the settings dialog to activate or deactivate the synchronization function.
enaio® webclient as a desktop application makes it easy to work with multiple tabs. Click the Plus icon in the desktop application header area to open another tab.
Webclient URL calls are not supported (see also Links and References in enaio®).
Refreshing website content in browsers done using the F5 key is not supported in enaio® webclient as a desktop application. Click the Refresh icon in the header area of enaio® webclient as a desktop application to refresh the content.
