Installing enaio® webclient as a desktop application

You will need to install desktop application of enaio® webclient (enaio® webclient-app) if you want to use the functions that allow you to access applications in the local Windows operating system in enaio® webclient. You do not need to have administrative rights to install enaio® webclient as a desktop application.

The following options are available for installing the desktop application of enaio® webclient:

• Via your browser

  With this installation method, you download an installation package from your browser to your local computer via enaio® webclient and run it there.

  The administrator can disable the setting that allows users to download the installation program (see Administration Console ).

  To install the desktop application using your browser, follow these steps

  enaio® webclient must be running on your computer in a browser. You will need the IP address/URL of enaio® webclient, your enaio® webclient user name, and the corresponding login password. Your administrator will provide you with the necessary information.

  1. Start enaio® webclient.

  2. Click the User menu icon in the main menu or your avatar image.

     The user menu now opens.

  3. Click Desktop app in the user menu.

     The desktop application installation file will be downloaded.

  4. Start the enaio-web-app.exe installation file by double-clicking it in your Windows Explorer.

     The installation of the desktop application is started.

  5. Follow the instructions shown during the installation process.

     You have the option of installing the desktop application for yourself or for all users of your computer. If you install it so all users have access, you need administrator rights for the installation.

     At the end of the installation process, the login screen of the desktop application of enaio® webclient will open.

  6. Enter the necessary login data, such as the IP address/URL and your user name/password, in the login form and then click the Log in button.

  The desktop application of enaio® webclient opens.

• Using an MSI package

  With this installation method, your administrator installs the desktop application of enaio® webclient using an MSI package. This method also offers the option of transferring your profiles, including your personal login data, during the installation process so that the login form is pre-filled the first time you come to log in (see also Logging In Using enaio® webclient as a desktop application).

Updates

Updates for enaio® webclient as a desktop application can be handled in different ways:

1. By your administrator. The administrator installs the updates in the background, so you do not even notice the process.

2. By the desktop application of enaio® webclient. You will be notified of a pending update and will need to confirm the update.

If you have installed enaio® webclient as a desktop application on your computer for all users, then you need administrator rights in order to enable the automatic application of updates for all users in the background.
