The Search Options in yuuvis® RAD client
You can search in the following ways to find business objects (folders and document files) in yuuvis® RAD client:
-
Global search
Search globally for terms that you think might occur in the business objects you are looking for. The global search finds the search term or terms in the metadata of an object or in the text of a document file (see Search Terms, Placeholders, Etc.). You can limit the global search to metadata and/or to document content (see The Search Dialog).
-
Metadata search
You can use search parameters in the specific metadata fields of an object type for the search. This allows you to find business objects for which you know how they are indexed. The search can be expanded in the context of the filing structure (see Searching Metadata).
-
Object properties search
You can search for business objects via properties that yuuvis® RAD client automatically saves for business objects: creation date, change date, creator, editor, and, for document files, also file type, file size, and file name. You can also search for document objects without document files here (see Object properties search).
These searches can be combined and saved as necessary. When entering a search term, you will be shown the number of expected hits, both in total and for the individual object types.
You can initiate a search on the dashboard, in the search dialog, in the Main menu > Saved searches, and in the content preview.
The results of a search will be displayed in a hit list of all objects that were found. You can sort (see Modifying Hit Lists), filter (see Filtering Hit Lists), and configure the hit list (see Configuring Hit Lists). Search results are sorted lexicographically. This means that sorting is case-sensitive and special characters are accounted for.
If you select an object in the hit list, the object’s properties and content will be displayed in the object area (see The Object Area). You can double-click the object to open the folder view, where you can access the filing location (see The Folder View).
Special Specifications of the Search Options in yuuvis® RAD client
- Link search terms: The search logically links all search terms on search forms, all limitations on properties and object types, and the global search terms with AND.
-
Autocomplete: Autocomplete displays suggestions from all objects to the user without checking the user’s access rights. If a suggestion is applied in the search, this may therefore result in the user not being displayed any objects due to their lack of rights.
-
Word phrases: Word phrases are supported in autocomplete fields. This means that when Optimal is entered, even word phrases such as OPTIMAL SYSTEMS are offered in the auto-completion list. Multi-fields do not support auto completion of word phrases.
-
Active and inactive users: If you enter search terms for the object search in a user field, you will be allowed to select from active and inactive users (for example, former employees). However, yuuvis® RAD client offers you active users only when creating objects and editing metadata.
-
ZIP files: Under certain conditions, the contents and index data of documents in ZIP files are also included in the full-text search. The prerequisite is that the documents contained in the ZIP file are suitable for being indexed for the full-text search. More specifically, if the rendition service of yuuvis® RAD is able to generate renditions of the documents contained in containers and display them in the content preview, for example, these documents will also be included in full-text search requests.
