Exporting Objects
You can export objects stored in the enaio® filing system using the Export function from the context menu of a selected object. There are various export features available in enaio® if you have the relevant permission.
-
Export index data
Users require the Client: Export index data system role in order to export index data.
You can export the index data in CSV file format with folders, registers, and documents. If multiple objects are marked in an object list (in a hit list or in a folder, for example), the index data will be exported in a single CSV file.
-
Export document files
Users require the Client: Export document contents system role in order to export document files.
Documents can be exported in their original format or as a PDF. Please note that not every file format can be converted into PDF format. If multiple objects are marked in an object list (in a hit list or in a folder, for example), the document files will be combined in a ZIP archive or in a PDF for export.

-
Select one or multiple objects (for example, in a hit list, in the inbox, or at a filing location).
-
Open the context menu.
-
Click or tap on the
Export icon in the context menu.
The export menu opens.
If you have selected objects with document files, the
Index data,
Content, and
PDF options will be offered in the export menu. If you have selected objects without document files (a document without pages or a folder, for example), only the Index data option will be offered in the export menu.
-
Select an export option:
-
Index data: You export a CSV file with index data.
Before starting the export, you have the option of specifying the index data that should be exported in a selection dialog. Document index data fields are marked in the selection dialog by a
Document icon and folder index data fields by a
Folder icon. Then, in the selection dialog, enter a file name for the export CSV and click or tap on the Export button.
-
Content: You export a document in its original format.
Multiple documents are combined and exported in a ZIP file.
-
PDF: You export a document in PDF format.
Multiple documents are combined and exported in a PDF file.
-
The objects are exported from enaio® to the local file system.
Depending on the application used (enaio® webclient in the browser, enaio® webclient as a desktop application, or enaio® mobile), various export dialogs are displayed – for filing in the local file system or for editing with locally installed applications.
Using extensions, such as enaio® Office Add-In NG , enaio® integration-for-microsoft-teams
, enaio® coLab
or the enaio® office-365-dashlet
, you can file enaio® documents from the respective applications to the local file system or the cloud storage.
Exporting and Printing Document Files
You can also use the Export function to print document files. To do so, use the export options
Content or
PDF. Store the export files in the local file system or open the exported documents using a locally installed application and then print them.
Exporting and Editing Document Files
You can also use the Export function to save document files locally for subsequent editing in external applications or apps (see Editing Document Content). Do so using the Content export option. After editing and saving the changes, you will need to upload the document again to the enaio® filing system as new variant (see Managing Variants).
Exporting While Working in Offline Mode
The Export function is also available in offline mode in enaio® webclient as a desktop application and in enaio® mobile if you previously synchronized objects (documents, registers, and folders) and thus made them available offline (see Synchronizing Objects and Making Them Available Offline).
