Editing Document Files
Business objects in yuuvis® RAD can include document files. Document files can be text documents, e-mails, image files etc.
yuuvis® RAD offers various options for editing the content of document files:
In other words, you first need to save the document file to your local file system. Then open, edit, and save the document file using the corresponding local application. Finally, return to the desired storage location in yuuvis® RAD client and upload the edited document file back to the yuuvis® RAD filing system.
The procedure is described in Download Document File, in Uploading Files, and in Replace document file.
In this case, the editing of the yuuvis® RAD document file is managed using the optional yuuvis® RAD agent extension. yuuvis® RAD agent will save the document file locally and open the application; it will also remember the storage location in yuuvis® RAD. The document file is then uploaded in yuuvis® RAD agent.
The procedure is described in Opening and Editing a Document File Locally.
This approach involves using yuuvis® RAD agent and the optional yuuvis® RAD Office Add-In extension. This allows you to directly access yuuvis® RAD in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, or Outlook. In this case, the yuuvis® RAD agent runs in the background.
The procedure is described in Editing Document Files in yuuvis® RAD Office Add-In.
You can also edit Microsoft Office documents using the optional yuuvis® RAD office-365-dashlet extension. The dashlet opens automatically in the Content aspect area if you selected a document in an object list (e.g., in a hit list or in the folder view) whose object type permits editing in Microsoft Office 365. The dashlet allows you to edit a document file yourself and work on it in collaboration with other yuuvis® RAD users.
Collaborating on Documents contains a description of how to edit Microsoft Office documents using yuuvis® RAD office-365-dashlet.
Document Lock
An important aspect of editing is locking the document files to be edited. The aim here is to avoid access conflicts. The document lock is only available when editing in yuuvis® RAD agent or in the yuuvis® RAD office-365-dashlet (see Locking Document Files).
