Creating Tasks
Project members can create tasks in the tasks view (simple tasks) and in the files view (tasks with a file link) in enaio® coLab.
It is possible that the tasks view and the task area on the project’s home screen have been hidden in the settings of enaio® coLab (see The General Settings Area).
You must first create a task group before you can create a task (see Creating Task Groups).
-
Open the tasks view by clicking the Tasks icon in the header of enaio® coLab.
-
Select the task group in which you want to create the task.
The Plus icon is grayed out if a task group has not yet been created.
You cannot create a task without a task group.
-
Click the Plus icon in the header of the task table.
The Create new task input form appears.
-
Fill in the Task and Description fields in the input form.
Fields indicated by an asterisk ("*") are mandatory.
You can enter up to 255 characters including spaces in the Task and Description fields. The number above the input field indicates the number of characters you have already entered.
-
Select a deadline by which the task should be completed in the Due date field.
You can select the date in the calendar that appears by clicking in the input field with the mouse.
It is not mandatory to enter a due date when creating a task.
-
Assign the task to a project member.
If you click in the Assign project member input field, a dropdown menu with a list of project members to whom you can assign the task will appear.
It is not mandatory to assign a task to a project member when creating a task.
-
Click the Add task button in the input form to finish creating the task.
The task is created and shown in the tasks view of all project members in the Tasks area.
If the task has been assigned to a project member, it will also be shown on the project’s home screen of the respective member.
If the task has been assigned to a project member, then this person will also be informed of the assignment to the task by e-mail, provided this has been configured accordingly in the user settings of the project room (see The E-mail Settings Area). Among other things, the task notification e-mail contains a link to the assigned task.
-
Open the files view by clicking the Files icon in the header of enaio® coLab.
-
Select the file in the directory structure that you want to link to a task.
-
Click the Tasks icon in the selected row in the directory structure.
The Create task input form appears.
Fields indicated by an asterisk ("*") are mandatory.
-
Select the task group to which you want to assign the task in the input form.
-
Fill in the Task and Description fields in the input form.
You can enter up to 255 characters including spaces in the Task and Description fields. The number above the input field indicates the number of characters you have already entered.
-
Assign the task to a project member.
If you click in the Assign project member input field, a dropdown menu with a list of project members to whom you can assign the task will appear.

You can add a due date to the task in the tasks view, if necessary (see Editing Tasks).
