Deleting Files and Folders
Folders and files in enaio® coLab can be deleted. The project member rights (see User Roles) and the object type determine who may delete which objects (see Objects and Permissions).
Deleting Folders
We distinguish between folders that were created using an coLab object type and folders that were created using an enaio® object type when deleting folders. You can recognize both folder types in enaio® coLab in the Files view by the fact that there is no icon in the directory structure behind enaio® folders and that there is a
More actions icon behind coLab folders.

Project room owners and project members with a corresponding user-based role can also delete folders that were created in enaio® coLab.
The folder to be deleted may not contain any subfolders or documents.

In the
Files view, click the
More actions icon of the folder you want to delete.
The More actions menu opens.

In the More actions menu, click the
Delete folder icon.
If the
Delete folder icon is grayed out, then the folder still has subfolders or documents that must be removed first.
The folder will be deleted in enaio® coLab and no longer shown in the Files view.
The folder will be deleted in enaio® and is no longer shown at the location of the root object.

To delete an enaio® folder, you must be an enaio® user and have the appropriate rights in enaio® to delete folders in enaio® folders or registers in the location of the coLab root object.

In enaio® coLab, open the project room in which you wish to delete a folder by clicking the tile of the required project room on the
Project rooms home screen.
If you selected the Slim, Slim +, or Horizontal menu type, you first have to click the
Home icon in the main navigation before you can click the
Project rooms icon in the submenu that opens.
If you selected the Overlay menu type, you first have to click theMain navigation icon in the coLab header before you can click the
Project rooms icon in the main navigation bar that opens.

Open the settings view in the project room by clicking the
Settings icon in the main navigation.

On the General tab, click one of the two links to open the location of the root object.

Users of enaio® client, enaio® webclient as a desktop application, or enaio® mobile should click Download reference file (*.os).
enaio® webclient does not support *.os reference files.
Depending on the browser configuration, a dialog will appear for filing an *.os reference file in the local file system or for editing using locally installed applications.
Click the Open button in the browser dialog.
As an alternative, you can save the *.os reference file in the local file system and double-click to open it there.
The enaio® application installed on your computer (enaio® client, enaio® webclient as a desktop application, or enaio® mobile) opens and shows the location of the root object.

Users of enaio® webclient should click Jump to enaio® webclient.
enaio® webclient opens in a new browser tab, and the location of the root object is shown.
Depending on the configuration of your operating system, you may need to log in to enaio®.

In the open location, delete the folder or the register.

Go to enaio® coLab in the corresponding project room and, once there, in the files view.
The folder or register deleted in enaio® is no longer shown in the directory structure of the project room in enaio® coLab.
Deleting Files
Files in enaio® coLab can be deleted in the following ways:

Project room owners and project members with a corresponding user-based role can delete files.

In the
Files view, click the
More actions icon of the file you want to delete.
The More actions menu opens.

In the More actions menu, click the
Delete file icon.
If a document is checked out in enaio®, then it cannot be deleted in enaio® coLab. coLab users who try to do this will receive a message with a note. The document cannot be deleted in enaio® coLab until it has been checked in again in enaio®.
The file will be deleted in enaio® coLab and no longer shown in the Files view.
Depending on the object type, the file, the document variant, the location data, and/or the document link will be deleted in enaio® (see Special Features of enaio® Object Types).

To delete files from enaio®, you must be an enaio® user, know the location of the coLab root object, and have the appropriate rights to delete files in the location of the coLab root object.

Delete the desired documents in the open location.
If you delete a document with variants in enaio®, it is not enough to just delete the active variant. You must either delete the entire document or move it.

Go to enaio® coLab and, once there, to the files view by clicking the
Files icon in the main navigation.
Documents deleted in enaio® are no longer shown in the directory structure of the project room in enaio® coLab.
The link in the tasks or messages is also deleted if files that were linked to tasks or messages are deleted.
If you have deleted folders and files in enaio®, you may have to update the contents of your browser tab in enaio® coLab so that you can see the changes in the directory structure. Click the Refresh icon in your browser to refresh.
If the features described above are not available to you, then it may be because you have been assigned a user-defined role that does not contain the corresponding rights. Contact a coLab administrator or the project room owner if you have any questions or if you need these rights.
