Transferring Documents to the External Tray
The external tray is only available to users in the desktop application of enaio® webclient and in enaio® mobile. It manages documents that were created and edited using various local applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), independent of enaio®, and that were transferred to the external tray for future filing in the enaio® filing system.
enaio® supports file extensions with more than ten characters or with Unicode characters.
Please note that the maximum supported file size depends on a number of a different factors. This includes the file type, the file content, the specific use case, and the client used.
The following methods are available for transferring documents to the external tray (also see External Tray):
Documents that you created or edited using the enaio® Office Add-In NG can be temporarily stored in the external tray of the desktop application of enaio® webclient if you select the Later option in enaio® Office Add-In NG when you file them (see Creating Documents).
If you abort the process to file a document as a variant (see Add as a new variant or as a new PDF variant), the document is transferred to the external tray.
In Android and iOS operating systems, you can temporarily store documents from other apps in the external tray of enaio® mobile using the “Share” or “Send to” function. Open the document to be checked in with an app on your mobile device. Select the “Share” or “Send to” function of the app and choose enaio® mobile as the target app. You can find a detailed description in To file documents on mobile devices, follow these steps.
The documents temporarily stored in the external tray are not lost when enaio® closes. They remain in the external tray until they have been filed in the filing system of enaio®.
However, if you delete the login profile in the desktop application of enaio® webclient or in enaio® mobile, then the documents temporarily stored in the external tray will also be deleted (see Logging In Using enaio® webclient as a desktop application or Logging In Using enaio® mobile).
The external tray of the desktop application of enaio® webclient and the external tray of enaio® mobile work separately. Documents in the external tray of desktop application of enaio® webclient are not shown in the external tray of enaio® mobile – and vice versa.
