The Preview Area

The preview area shows the contents and object properties (index data and basic parameters) of objects (folders, registers, documents). To view the contents or data of an object in the preview area, you will need to mark the corresponding object from an object list (for example, in a hit list, at a filing location, or in a workflow file). The document content or the object properties will be shown until a different object is selected in the object list.

The preview area is located to the right of the workspace in enaio® webclient and in the desktop application of enaio® webclient (see User Interface).

The following applies if you are using enaio® mobile:

In enaio® mobile, open the preview area by

  • tapping on a document in an object list (e.g., in a hit list, at a filing location, in the favorites area) (single touch).
  • selecting an object (for example, folders, registers, and documents) from an object list and clicking the Show index data icon Show object function in the context menu.

The preview area will then move on top of the workspace.

The Various Applications in the Preview Area

The preview area uses various applications that you can access by clicking or tapping the corresponding icon in the header in the preview area:

  • Preview area document preview iconContent preview

    Shows the content of documents in a graphic preview. You can scroll through multi-page documents. The content preview also enables you to search the displayed document as well as the option of creating preview annotations. See Content Preview for a detailed description of the content preview.

  • Index data icon Details preview

    Shows the object properties of an object (registers, folders, and documents) in forms. These include index data, basic parameters, workflow and follow-up data, the history, notes, and access status (whether a document is checked out).   • Office 365 icon Office 365 dashlet

    If your enaio® system is configured accordingly, the icon for the Office 365 icon Office 365 dashlet is shown in the header of the preview area. The icon will only be shown if you select a document whose object type can be edited using Microsoft Office 365. You can create and edit Microsoft Office files, in particular, with the dashlet.   • Project-specific dashlets

    Depending on your enaio® system, project-specific dashlets such as Wikipedia, Google Maps, or other web applications can be displayed in the preview area. Your administrator will inform you about how these dashlets work.

Undocking the Preview Area

You can use the Undock icon Undock icon in the title bar of the preview area to separate the preview area and display it in a separate browser window. You can adjust the size of this separate browser window and move it to a separate monitor, for example. If you close the separate browser window by clicking or tapping on the Delete – icon icon, the preview area will be docked to the enaio® webclient again.

It is only possible to use the undock function in enaio® webclient and in enaio® webclient as a desktop application and only for Preview area document preview iconContent preview and Index data icon Details preview. You cannot undock the Office 365 icon Office 365 dashlet. However, when editing Microsoft Office 365 documents in enaio® webclient, a new browser tab is created. You can drag it into a separate browser window according to your browser's functionality.

The following applies if you are using enaio® mobile:

  • The preview area undock function is not supported in enaio® mobile.

  • enaio® mobile does not support working with Microsoft Office 365.

  • enaio® mobile does not support the use of dashlets.
