Object References

enaio® webclient 11.10 »

Object references allow you to quickly access frequently used objects, such as documents or folders. Object references are stored in the main menu in the Desktop icon Desktop area (see Desktop).

You can open the desktop via the Desktop icon Desktop icon in the main menu.

Double-clicking or tapping an object reference can trigger various actions:

  • Folder or register object references

Double-clicking or tapping a folder or register object reference opens the location of the clicked object.

  • Document object references

Double-clicking or tapping a document object reference can trigger various actions, also referred to as default actions. Your administrator determines what action is triggered. You can find which default actions have been configured and how they can be triggered in Default Actions.

The following applies if you are using enaio® mobile and enaio® webclient on tablets and smartphones:

Default actions are not supported on tablets and smartphones in enaio® mobile and enaio® webclient.

Creating Object References

To create object references, follow these steps

  1. Select an object (document, register, or folder) for which you want to create an object reference (for example, in a hit list, in the inbox, or at a filing location).

  2. Open the context menu.

  3. Click or tap on the Copy icon Copy icon in the context menu.

The selected object is copied to the clipboard.

  4. Go to the main menu of Desktop icon Desktop and open the Private desktop area.

  5. In the Private desktop area, select the Private desktop folder icon Private desktop entry and open the context menu by right-clicking or by pressing and holding the entry in enaio® mobile.

  6. Click or tap the Insert icon Insert icon in the context menu.

The Save to desktop menu opens.

  7. Enter a name for the object reference and click or tap the Confirm button.

The object reference is stored and displayed in the Private desktop area.

Editing Object References

Object references that you have created can be renamed, moved (by cutting and pasting), and also removed. The functions are provided in the context menu of the corresponding object reference.

The context menu of the object references also offers frequently used editing features, such as Send e-mail icon Send e-mail, Start workflow – iconStart workflow, Follow-ups icon Follow-ups, or Object subscription icon Subscribe. Among other applications, this allows you to open the location of an object reference independently of the default action (such as the action for opening the index data form for editing). If you use the Create object icon New function in the context menu of a folder or register object reference, the new object will be created in the folder or register of the object reference.

If you call up an object reference whose object has been deleted in the enaio® filing system, you will receive a notification that the object no longer exists.

You cannot edit object references that you did not create yourself, such as object references that were distributed via Profile distribution iconProfile distribution or object references on the public desktop (see Desktop).
