enaio® Office Add-In NG

enaio® 11.10 »

enaio® Office Add-In NG provides functions in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) that make it easier to create and file Office documents in enaio® and allow the user to transfer data for documents with the data transfer syntax to and from enaio®.

enaio® Office Add-in NG is installed via an MSI package.

The MSI file enaio_office_addin_ng.msi is part of the installation data in the \Frontend directory.

enaio® client or enaio® webclient as a desktop application must be installed on the workstation. If enaio® client and enaio® webclient as a desktop application are installed, then enaio® Office Add-in NG works with enaio® client.

If enaio® client is installed, client-side data transfer with user interaction will be possible.

If only enaio® webclient as a desktop application is installed, then only server-side data transfer with no user interaction will be possible. If the data transfer syntax provides for user interaction, the first available option is automatically executed.

Transferring data for documents with data transfer syntax can only be done via the data transfer function of enaio® Office Add-In NG and cannot be done via the data transfer function of enaio®data-transfer-ng for Word documents with controls.

MSI installations require administrator rights and should be carried out using an administrator command line when user account control is enabled.

Office Documents with Macros

The following adjustment is necessary to use Office documents with macros in enaio® together with enaio® Office Add-In NG:

  • Client cache directory:

The default cache directory %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp\OSTEMP must be modified on workstations via the asinit.cfg configuration file and stored outside of the %TEMP% system directory.

    Example:

    [CLIENT]
    OSTEMP=C:\enaio\ostemp

  • Macro settings in Office applications:

Macro settings may need to be adjusted in Office applications:

File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Macro Settings: The execution of digitally signed macros must be enabled.

  • Signing macros:

Information on signing macros can be found in the Microsoft documentation.

Documents in the Office Application

Once a new Office file in the Office format has been created in enaio®, the source document is once again displayed in the Office application by default and can be further edited independently of the enaio® document.

The following registry entry must be created at the workstation if the source document should not be displayed again:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\OPTIMAL SYSTEMS\enaio\Office Add-In

String: ForcePreventCloseOnInsertNew Value: true

Logging

The directory C:\User\<username>\AppData\Local\OPTIMAL_SYSTEMS_GmbH\Logs\<add-in>\ is used by default for logging.

Configuration of logging can be changed via the NLog.config file from the specified installation directory.

Users can send logs from error messages in the add-in.
