If you mark a file in the files view, the content of the file is shown in the content preview. In addition to showing the content, the content preview also offers you the following functions:

Document preview Page preview – icon Page preview Opens a preview of the pages of the document shown in the preview.
Document preview search – icon Search document Opens a search input field to browse the document shown in the preview. Hits are marked in the content preview.
scroll back – icon Previous page

Shows the previous page of the document.
scroll forward – icon Next page

Shows the next page of the document.
Document preview Update – icon Refresh

Refreshes the content preview.
Document preview Zoom out – icon Zoom out Reduces the zoom factor of the shown document.
Document preview Zoom in – icon Zoom in

Increases the zoom factor of the shown document.
Document preview annotations – icon Preview annotations

Lets you create, show, hide, and export preview annotations.

Rotate document preview clockwise – icon

Rotate clockwise

Rotates the content preview 90° to the right. The orientation of the original document remains unchanged.

Rotate document preview counterclockwise – icon

Rotate counterclockwise

Rotates the content preview 90° to the left. The orientation of the original document remains unchanged.

Searching File Contents

The content preview allows you to search through text files without opening the file.

To search through a text file, click the Search document icon 'Search document' icon in the content preview in the document preview menu bar. In the search form that appears, you have the option of

  • Jumping forwards or backwards from hit to hit by clicking the Arrow icon Arrow icons.

  • Highlighting all hits in the preview by activating a checkbox.

  • Using case-sensitivity in the search by activating a checkbox.

Exporting File Contents

The content preview allows you to mark text passages in text files directly in the preview using the mouse and to transfer them to other files via the Windows clipboard using copy and paste.

Exporting Files

The content preview allows you to export the selected file in *.pdf format. To do so, click the Preview annotations icon Preview annotations icon in the content preview menu bar and then the Export – icon Export icon in the annotation menu that just appeared. Depending on the browser configuration, a file will be downloaded immediately or a dialog will appear for filing in the local file system or for editing using locally installed applications.

Preview annotations

Project members can add annotations in the content preview in the form of a text. The Preview annotations icon Preview annotations can be edited, moved, and deleted again afterwards. You can also export them together with the document, as well as minimize or completely hide them in the content preview.

You can also use preview annotations that you created in enaio® coLab or in enaio®. The same applies to preview annotations that you created in an enaio® client.
