Deleting Objects
The corresponding rights are needed to delete objects.
To delete an object (such as a folder, register, or document), click or tap on Delete in the context menu of the object and press OK in the confirmation dialog to confirm you want to delete the object. The selected object will be removed from the original filing location and displayed in the recycle bin. It can be permanently deleted or restored there (see The Recycle Bin).
The following special features must be observed when deleting objects:
-
The administrator can specify whether users can or cannot delete objects based on the object type.
-
Objects can be deleted even if other users are editing the index data.
-
If you delete a folder or a register, any registers or documents it contains will also be deleted.
-
If you delete a link document or a document found at multiple locations, then only the location data at that specific location will be deleted. Documents found at multiple locations cannot be deleted from object lists (such as hit lists), but only from their filing location (see Documents with Multiple Locations).
-
There are several ways to delete individual variants and entire variant documents. You can find information in Managing Variants on how to delete variants and variant documents.
-
Image documents can contain multiple document files. Document files deleted via the Edit content dialog (see Editing Document Content) are not moved to enaio® webclient's recycle bin and therefore cannot be restored.
-
If you delete typeless documents or documents without a filing location from a workflow file, then these documents are not moved to enaio® webclient's recycle bin and therefore cannot be restored.
If you are not offered a delete function in the context menu of a selected object, this may be because:
-
you do not have the necessary rights to delete this object.
-
the relevant document is checked out by you or by other users (see Checking a Document In and Out).
-
the document to be deleted is a document found at multiple locations (see Documents with Multiple Locations).
Deleted reference documents and the deleted location data of documents found at multiple locations cannot be restored (see Reference Documents and Documents with Multiple Locations).
Workflows cannot be deleted by a user (see Deleting Workflows).
