The following rules apply to search terms in yuuvis® RAD client:

Search terms may contain numbers and letters (such as German umlauts or diacritical characters). Searches are not case-sensitive. Search terms are normalized, umlauts and diacritical characters are converted (e.g. “ä” becomes “ae,” “ß” becomes “ss,” or “é” is turned into “e”). Basic forms and parts of the terms are also included in the search. Example: if you search for dream, the results will also include dreamed, dream catcher, and pipe dreams. |

Search terms can be combined with the following placeholders at the start, middle, and end of a search term: * for any kind and any number of characters. ? for exactly one character. |

Several search terms are linked logically with AND if there is a space between them. All business objects that contain both search terms are therefore shown. Administratively, the search can also be linked with OR. |

| Search for empty fields |
If you want to search for objects with empty metadata fields, click the name of the corresponding field. The entry Without value is displayed in the field, and the field name is crossed out. As is the case for all searches, searches for empty metadata fields can also be stored. You can also search the tables contained in metadata forms for empty cells (see Searching Tables in Metadata Forms). |
The search links all search terms on search forms and all limitations on object properties and object types with AND by default. Object types are linked in the search by OR.
Fuzzy Searches
yuuvis® RAD also supports fuzzy searches regardless of how your system is configured. This means that a search request can also return correct hits if you misspelled the search term when entering it. The fuzzy search also supports search requests with multiple search terms that are linked with AND by default.
The fuzzy search is only used in full-text search requests and not in metadata searches or searches by object properties. Using placeholders (e.g., * or ?) in search requests or the exact search (search terms in quotation marks) overrides the support of fuzzy search algorithms.
The search in yuuvis® RAD is based on Elasticsearch plus, the linguistic plugin from Intrafind. This plugin optimizes the search for the respective language used. yuuvis® RAD supports the languages English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. If other languages are used in the search requests, metadata, or document content, this may lead to poor search results. It is possible to unlock support for additional languages by purchasing a corresponding license.
Highlighting of Search Terms in the Content Preview
Search terms entered in the object search are highlighted in the content preview of the document files returned in the search if they are contained there (see The Content Preview).
The full-text indexing property must be enabled for the object type in order to allow the contents of document files to be searched. The document file must also contain searchable text. Image files are therefore excluded from full-text indexing.
Please note that only the entire search term is highlighted in the default content preview. For example, if "John Johnson" was searched for, then all objects containing both "John" and "Johnson" are searched for. The hits can therefore include document objects for which "John" was found in the metadata and "Johnson" was found in the document file. However, in the content preview, only the entire search term "John Johnson" is highlighted, as long as it is contained in the document file.
