All work with yuuvis® RAD begins with a data model – the yuuvis® RAD schema. The schema is part of a project and is created in yuuvis® RAD designer.
The schema is used to develop object type groups (folder and document types) via which users create and manage business objects.
Object Types, Metadata, and Document Files
An object type identifies a business object by means of specific metadata which can be used to find and identify folders and documents. Metadata describes the properties of a business object. For example, an invoice document is defined by its invoice date, invoice number, and vendor/customer. Specifications can be made for the metadata by setting up catalogs for indexing, for example. Catalogs are lists with object-specific entries. Document files can be assigned to documents, in addition to metadata.
Object Types and Groups
Object types can be grouped together to create a better overview (e.g., specialist applications). For example, an object type group consists of a folder type and any document type. Default settings can be specified for document types, for example, the number of documents of one type that can be created.

Abstract Object Types
Abstract object types are a template for other object types. Fields for abstract object types are part of the derived object types and are edited using the abstract object types in the schema.
Catalogs provide drop-down lists for the metadata fields of business objects. Catalogs can be lists of titles, departments, and business locations.
Any number of counters, which can be used for the sequential numbering of objects of an object type, can be configured for the schema.
