Searching Metadata for Objects

Each business object in yuuvis® RAD has metadata. You can search for this metadata in yuuvis® RAD client. Metadata searches are carried out via a corresponding search form in the search dialog. In the search form, fields in the metadata form that are not relevant to the search can be hidden on an administrative level.

The metadata search for an object type in the search form can be extended to include the filing context. This must be provided by an administrator.

The Order business object is always in a folder of the type Supplier. The Order search form can be supplemented with the Supplier search form.

  1. Click the Search icon Search icon on the yuuvis® RAD bar.

    The search dialog opens with the list of object types and the other search aspects.
    If an earlier search entry is entered in the search criteria overview, you can clear the search fields via the Reset button.

  2. Click the name of an object type in the list of object types.

The metadata search form for the object type appears.

The object type will be adopted in the overview of the search criteria.

If the object type has a filing context, the header of the context search form is also shown. The entire context search form can be shown in the header via the Down arrow icon Down arrow icon.

Cross-context object types can have a selection of several filing contexts.

You can now specify additional search criteria in the search form for the object type and in the context search forms.

The search input will remain until the next search, even if you exit the search dialog. You can reuse the input for the next search, save it (see Saving Searches), or reset it.

The properties of the search fields determine what you are permitted to enter in the search form fields.

Text fields

The search is based for the exact search term.

The following placeholders are allowed:

'*' for any kind and any number of characters.

'?' for exactly one character.
Numerical fields

A range can be entered in numerical fields:

Range

Two values separated by spaces and a '-'.

Example: 500 - 599
Less than/less than or equal to

Example:

< 500

<= 500

Greater than/greater than or equal to

Example:

> 500

>= 500

Date fields

A time period can be entered in the date field.

Time period

Two date values separated by spaces and a '-'.

Example: 11.04.2017 - 28.04.2017
Less than/less than or equal to

Example:

< 28.04.2017

<= 04/28/2017

Greater than/greater than or equal to

Example:

> 28.04.2017

>= 28.04.2017

Date ranges can also be entered via the calendar.
Catalog fields

The catalog fields are indicated by a Down arrow icon Down arrow. The catalogs correspond to the catalogs on metadata forms.
Multi-fields

In multi-fields and catalogs that allow multiple values in one field, several values can also be entered in the search form. The values on which the search is based are linked logically with OR.
User/group fields In user/group fields, a placeholder '*' (asterisk) can be used to show all available elements in a list of suggestions. This is particularly useful for filtered fields if you do not know the members of a group or role and therefore cannot type in their names.
URL fields Addresses in URL fields have to start with the schema information, e.g. http://, https://

The search logically links all search terms on search forms, all limitations on properties and object types, and the global search terms with AND.

If you want to search for objects with empty metadata fields, click the name of the corresponding field. The entry Without value is displayed in the field, and the field name is crossed out. As is the case for all searches, searches for empty metadata fields can also be stored.

Searching Tables in Metadata Forms

If an object type in yuuvis® RAD client contains a table in its metadata, you can also include this in the metadata search. To do this, open the search form for the corresponding object type in the search dialog. In addition to other metadata search fields, the search form contains a table in which you can double-click the table row to enter your search terms in an input form that opens. Click Apply in the input form to add the search terms to the table in the search dialog.

To search for empty table cells, click the name of the corresponding table column. The No value entry is then shown in the input field and the name of the table column is crossed out. As is the case for all searches, searches for empty table cells can also be stored.
