Hiding and Undocking Areas
yuuvis® RAD client offers you various options to customize the layout of your desktop system. Some of these layout settings (“Showing/Hiding Areas” and “Changing the Size of Areas”) can also be saved.

You can find the undock function in the content preview (see The Content Preview). The Undock function is available whenever the contents of a document are displayed in the content preview.
If you switch view, e.g., if you select a different document or if you change to a different area of yuuvis® RAD client, the content preview remains undocked and shows the content of the new selected document. The same applies if you have multiple tabs open.
You cannot save the setting to keep the content preview undocked.
To dock and undock the content preview, follow these steps
-
Select a document in a hit list or in one of the views described above.
A preview of the content of the document is shown in the Content aspect area (content preview) in the object area.
-
Click the
Undock icon in the content preview.
The content preview will open in a separate browser window that you can move anywhere on the screen.
-
To close the browser window again, click the
Close icon in the undocked browser window.
The content preview will be docked again.

If you required more space when editing metadata forms or for the content preview, for example, you can hide the headers in the yuuvis® RAD client in different views.
When you press Ctrl+Ctrl+V the first time, the yuuvis® RAD bar is hidden. If you press Ctrl+Ctrl+V a second time, the header is hidden in different views. If you want to restore the original view of yuuvis® RAD, press Ctrl+Ctrl+V a third time.

The hide and show areas function is available wherever you see the Configure view areas icon in the yuuvis® RAD bar:
-
in hit lists or in the folder view;
-
in the favorites, inbox, in-tray, process, notifications, and 'saved searches' view;
-
in the version view.

-
Generate a hit list or open one of the views listed above.
-
Click the
Configure view areas icon on the yuuvis® RAD bar to open the layout menu.
-
You can show and hide certain view areas such as the structure area, the hit list, or the object area by clicking an
Area icon several times.
Each
Area icon stands for a view area.
Hidden areas are indicated by small numbers on the
Configure view areas icon.
-
Click the
remember icon in the layout menu if you want to save the layout settings (the number of areas that are hidden or shown and the position of the separator bar).
A checkmark appears in the
remember checkbox, and the checkbox is highlighted in red
.
-
Exit the view.
All changes in the layout settings of this view are saved.

You can change the size of the individual areas in the yuuvis® RAD client by moving the separator bars. Click the remember icon in the layout menu if you want to save the position of the separator bar. Open the layout menu by clicking the
Configure view areas icon on the yuuvis® RAD bar.

You can save separate layout settings (the number of areas that are hidden or shown and the position of the separator bars) for different object types or views (e.g., favorites, process, version view) using the remember function in the layout menu. This means that you can save a layout for both the hit list view and the folder view for each object type.
If you have ticked the remember checkbox in a view, any changes in the layout settings (the number of areas that are hidden or shown and the position of the separator bars) are saved when you exit the view. The next time you open the same view, the layout settings saved when you exited the view will be displayed again.
As long as the remember checkbox is ticked, all changes to the layout settings are saved when you exit the view.
Follow the steps below if you want to keep a custom view:

-
Generate a hit list or open one of the views listed above.
-
Click the
Configure view areas icon on the yuuvis® RAD bar to open the layout menu.
-
Customize the view to your liking.
You can show and hide certain view areas such as the structure area, the hit list, or the object area by clicking an
Area icon several times.
Change the size of the areas by clicking and moving the separator bars.
-
Click the
remember icon in the layout menu to save the layout settings (the number of areas that are hidden or shown and the position of the separator bar).
A checkmark appears in the
remember checkbox, and the checkbox is highlighted in red
.
-
Exit the view.
The layout settings are saved.
-
Reopen the view with the customized layout settings.
-
Click the
Configure view areas icon on the yuuvis® RAD bar to open the layout menu.
-
Click the
remember icon in the layout menu.
The checkmark in the remember checkbox will be removed.
The customized layout settings are retained. Subsequent changes to the layout settings are not saved.
Layout settings are saved in the browser cache. This means that the saved settings apply to all users who use the same browser on a PC workstation. Layout settings saved in one browser (such as Mozilla Firefox) do not affect the layout settings in another browser (such as Google Chrome) on the same PC workstation.
Saved layout settings cannot be deleted, they can only be changed and saved again.
In addition to customizing the layout, you can also change the appearance of your hit lists (see Modifying Hit Lists and Configuring Hit Lists) and the arrangement of the object aspects (see Object Aspects).
How to show/hide the content preview in the editing form for metadata tables is described in Tables in Metadata Forms.
The Microsoft Windows operating system offers practical functions for positioning several application windows side by side on one monitor.

Windows provides support if you only work with one monitor, but would like to position the undocked window next to a form area. If you slowly drag the window to the edge of your monitor after clicking the undock icon, the Windows interface changes and suggests a frame that covers half of the monitor. If you now let go of the undocked window, it will fill this area. All other activatable windows are displayed on the other half of the monitor. After selecting the browser with yuuvis® RAD client, the windows are now side by side. The two window areas can be divided appropriately by moving the dividing line in the middle of the monitor.
