Copying Objects
In enaio® webclient you can copy objects (documents and registers) within a cabinet. Here you have a choice between:
-
Create copy
If you copy a document, a new independent document of the same type and with the same document file is created. If you copy a register, only the register is copied, but not any documents stored in it. The copy of an object can also be created at the same filing location.
A copy is a new, standalone object. If you edit the index data or the document file of this copy, the changes only affect this copy and not the original object, unlike if you assign a new filing location to the object, for example.
You cannot create copies of documents stored in internal or external trays, in the recycle bin, or in offline mode.
-
Add location
You can also assign multiple locations to a document (see Documents with Multiple Locations). All document locations access the same document file and the same index data. Changes to a document made at one location are therefore also visible at all other locations. If you delete a document that exists in multiple locations from one location, then only the location data at that specific location will be deleted.
Folders and registers can only have one location.
-
Select an object (document or register) you want to copy (for example, in a hit list, in the inbox, or at a filing location).
-
Open the context menu.
-
Click or tap on the
Copy icon in the context menu.
The selected object is copied to the clipboard.
-
Open a different folder or register.
Alternatively, you can also paste the copied object at the same filing location.
-
Open the context menu.
-
Click or tap on the
Insert icon in the context menu and select one of the following actions in the submenu:
-
Create copy: The index data form of the copied object (document or register) opens for editing.
-
Add location: A new filing location is added (this function is only available for copied documents).
-
The copy is created or another location is added.
You can find detailed descriptions of the Link object and
Create reference document functions in the submenu on pages Internal Links and Reference Documents.
If you cannot insert a copied object at the desired location or add another location to a copied document, this may be because:
-
you do not have the appropriate rights at the desired location.
-
the type of copied object cannot be inserted at the desired location.
