Viewing and Editing Variables
You can view the variables for activities and actions in the process details view ( History area) or edit them (
Active models area). The details views display information about processes, their activities and actions, as well as the associated variables and values.
To open the details view of a process, select the desired entry in the process overview table in the Active models or
History area and
-
click the
Properties button above the overview table.
-
click the
Properties option in the context menu of the selected entry.
-
double-click the selected entry in the process overview table.
If you select an activity or an action in a tab or in the graphical view (applies only to the details view in the Active models section) in a process details view, the corresponding variables, including their values, are displayed in a table below the tab in the variables area. The Name column contains the variable name and type, while the second column contains the value.
The table can be sorted and filtered (see Adjusting Tables). The size of the variables area can be adjusted using the handles. This setting is automatically saved when you close the details view.
When you move the mouse pointer over a variable line or click it, the line is highlighted. By clicking the arrow next to a variable entry, you can show or hide additional variable rows.
Editing Variables
You can edit variables in the details view of the Active models area. When you select an entry in the variable table in the details view, the editing features available for that variable are displayed at the end of the row. Alternatively, you can also access these functions via the context menu.
If you click an entry in the Value column, you will switch to edit mode and can adjust the variable value.
Completed activities (see the Status column) cannot be edited.
The following functions are available for editing variables:
| Icon | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
|
|
Edit variables | Opens edit mode in the corresponding Variable row > Value column. |
|

The copied values can be pasted into other Windows applications or into other variable fields. If the Value column and contains no value, the option is not available. |

Clicking A new list entry can also be added to the sublist variables (even if it is a subvariable within a record variable). List entries that have been added but not yet saved are indicated by a bar at the beginning of the line. |
|
|
Delete list entry |
Deletes a list entry. This option is available only for list entries that were added via enaio® administrator-for-workflow (web). Clicking |
|
|
Undo | Undoes a change and resets the value to the last saved value. This option is available only for variables that have been modified but not yet saved. The option appears only at the end of the line containing the variable in question, and not in the context menu. |
Variables that have been modified or newly added but not yet saved are indicated by highlighted bars at the beginning of the relevant list entries. To save your changes, click the Apply button at the top of the details view.
If you have changed or added variables but have not saved them yet, then when you
-
close the details view (
Back button),
-
refresh (
Reload button),
-
select another activity in the same tab or in a different tab, or
-
refresh or close the browser tab,
enaio® administrator-for-workflow (web) prompts you to save or discard the changes.
Adjusting Tables
You can customize all tables in the view. You can show or hide the tables or areas by clicking a column header or an arrow. When you move the mouse pointer over an action bar or click it, the action bar is highlighted. Only one line can be selected at a time.
In addition, the following customization options are available to you:
You can sort the tables in any order by clicking a column header. The column header by which the table is sorted is highlighted in color and marked with a /
Sorting icon. Clicking the column header again reverses the sorting or clears it. The sorting is not saved when you exit the details view.
You can adjust the column width to your liking. To do this, move your mouse pointer over a column divider in the table header until the mouse pointer changes to a Cross with two arrows icon. Press and hold the left mouse button, and drag the column divider to the desired position. Column widths are not saved when you exit the view.
In the variables table, use the filter input field to filter the table by specific variables. The filter input field also accepts partial terms and is not case-sensitive. Placeholders and operators are not supported.
You can undo any changes you have made to the tables using the 'Reset layout' function in the
More actions menu.
